continues to experiment with a brand new cassette. Once again, it feels like the journey is more important than the destination. Like a gourmand on a food tour, he tries everything and then some, but still manages to create a whole that impresses. But it takes time to absorb "Unending Crisis".

Idehall moves across the industry spectrum, and here more than ever to my ears. It's minimalist ambient, sludgy oldschool industrial and static noise and rumble in a nice and slightly confusing combination. The vocals oscillate between restrained chanting à la Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio to insane outbursts in the spirit of Haus Arafna, and one can only speculate as to how Mr. Idehall is really feeling.

As I said, it's not an easy task to take on. It swings fast and all the whims and changes of style make it hard to keep up at first. But it's an insanely entertaining ride you're in for here.

Personally, I'm most amused by the tracks that pull towards SPK/Thorofon as I really like the way Michael makes it sound like it's done on acoustic instruments. The sound is broken, dirty and richly alive. Impressive craftsmanship.

The "quieter" tracks tend to float past my concentration, but after numerous sessions with this cassette, even those pieces of the puzzle fall into place. But I see them more as welcome contrasts to the more intense songs than anything else. I notice myself returning to some of the tracks a bit more often. The almost danceable Witchdoctor and the aggressively ethereal Tarpit Paradise are among my favorites here, along with the title track's slowly ritualistic noise experimentation.

It's not easily digestible. It's not tuneful. But it's damn interesting and done with great artistic integrity and curiosity that should be discovered by more people.

about

Kontralamakina is proud to present a new departure from sound exploration self-styled as "Unending Crisis" 8 Tracks by prominent Swedish artist @michael_idehall Michael Idehall a unique blend of death industrial and apocalyptic melodies with a subliminal song structure and a dark, structured vibe. Once again, the Swedish producer/performer evokes a raw and vicious force that conveys an intense mood of menace, aggression and magic with a strong streak of esoteric themes and personal poetics shaping the mood and tone.

For those timeless listeners, for those who contemplate the curse of the giants who seem asleep or because of abstractions and "civilized" concepts.
Those have imposed their whims on us, those dark clowns have anathematized us for laughing so insolently, we have been cursed by corpses, skeletons and mummies, that twitch and stagger with a pseudo-life derived from comfort.
The fight from the outside to the inside. From the inside to the outside. In the middle is the void. However, the pain of anger is never enough and Michael Idehall reminds us of this go and build and destroy as much as you can, just the sound and rhythm of our breathing reminds us that we are alive.

Idehall kink baritone intoning ritual chants and secret whispers with a solemn atmosphere, highlights the arcane bent of heavy electronica driven with surprising tautological sequences. from sparse palpitations and slow beats to cinematic ambient elements and industrial undertones.
'Unending Crisis' showcases a captivating mix of seductive vocals, throbbing bass, heavy beats, sinister drones and metallic tremors.

a captivating album that delivers a gripping and sometimes horrifying story from start to finish, where the lack of an easy path to chase is part of the experience - hypnotic, forceful and wild. With this we begin the beginning of the end.
